Tomahawk Lagoon- Water testing

Karen Parker —

Last week some of Room 20 went to the Tomahawk Lagoon.

On Wednesday last week some of the Room 20 students joined other keen water testers from around the school to learn about the Tomahawk Lagoon and how to monitor the water and wildlife.

We were fortunate enough to see the entire process with some of us being lucky enough to work along the secondary school students making and analysing samples of water.

It was great to see the local farmers taking an active role in protecting the lagoon. There were representatives of the ORC and DCC who spoke to us about water testing and the importance of our role.

The highlight of the day was seeing the nets come in with 13 eels in them. This is the biggest catch of eels in quite some time.

We look forward to our fortnightly testing.
