Basic facts in the Hub

Every Wednesday morning, the students of The Hub all get to participate in basic facts tests that are tailored specifically to meet their own level.

The Hub enjoys basic facts because our teachers are very supportive to all of us throughout this course. We get some time before and after our tests to choose between a wide variety of various math activities, challenges and games (both physical and digital) that use basic facts to test and progress our mathematical knowledge and confidence.

When it is our turn to take our test, our teacher usually calls us up in small groups of two or three people that have roughly the same level of mathematical knowledge and gives us three to five seconds to write it down in our basic facts notebook. After we find the total of our score out of ten, we get helpful feedback from the teachers and know what to practice for next time.

As students build their confidence and their skills through the wide range of activities in the Hub they will progress through the various stages.

During basic facts in the Hub we support each other's learning and celebrate our successes.
