Camp- Bonfire

Kate Walsh —

By Jessica

At Camp last week on Thursday, we had a bonfire. We went around to the bonfire pit after dinner, and we were told to find long sticks, which does sound quite easy, but was in fact a bit tricky, as the good sticks were either deeper in the bush or already taken. Some helpers went over to the bonfire pit and helped Eb (Whom we were very lucky to come and join us,) set it all up. We were advised to bring a torch and another layer as it would be cold and dark when we got back. When we got there the bonfire was lit and we all had to sit around the fire. We all roasted some marshmallows around the fire and got to use choc-thins to make smores, which were quite tasty. Eb played the guitar for us and at the end we had a waiata as the fire was dying down. It was all very fun, and we were lucky to experience it as most classes didn’t get the chance.
