Teachers need to keep learning too. Bill Boyes and I visited Kings' to find out what comes next for our students, writes Andrew Tait.

Many Tahuna boys continue on to Kings' High School, which has a great technology programme. Learning about what skills students will need at high school helps us focus our programme and makes the big move from year 8 to year 9 easier. We're also always interested in learning about skills and materials ourselves. I was fascinated to learn about "Paulownia" - a lightweight hardwood similar to balsa grown and harvested here in New Zealand which the older boys use to make surfboards (paulownianz.co.nz).
