Success in the Youth Art Awards - Claudia Tate 1st prize in the age group 11-13 years and Tahuna Normal Intermediate was awarded Best School.

There were 325 pieces of art work on display at the Dunedin Railway Station for the Otago Art Society's Youth Art Awards.

There were three age categories 5-7, 8-10, and 11-13. Claudia Tate recieved first prize 11-13 years of age for her bird flying through a blue inspired spray painted work with Maori patterns, and Tahuna was awarded Best School.

The judge was artist Janet de Wagt, she commmented that she admired the fact that Tahuna gave importance to all different art processes, from sketching, painting, spray painting, printmaking and pen and ink work.
