Last week, Year 8’s had the opportunity to visit some high school Open Mornings to help them decide which school they would like to attend next year. Here’s some impressions of these experiences from four Room 7 students.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we went to high schools. They all gave us a range of experiences in different areas and I loved going around them all. They all made us feel really welcome and made the choice about which high school to go to really hard. All the teachers were really kind and I could not have had a better experience. I found that these really helped me get further down the path to choosing a high school. I am super grateful and would love to do it again. I know that no matter what choice my classmates and I take we will have a good school that cares about us. Eric Bracey

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dunedin’s high schools showed off their academic, physical and cultural areas to us year 8 Tahuna kids. The teachers and students welcomed us and toured around theirs schools. They were so kind and gave us a small taste of each of the subjects we will do at high school. They made it very tough for me to choose a school to go to next year. But I know that any high school I go to will offer me as many opportunities as they can, and help me through the next 5 years of my life. Jack Hobbs

My experience with attending the high school open mornings was great. I really enjoyed seeing all the different classrooms and participating in all the different activities that were offered. The teachers and student helpers were all very kind and supportive. Overall, I thought all the open mornings were super enjoyable and it was great to get a good look at all the schools. Millie Nol

The Queen's, Bayfield and Otago Girls open mornings were great chances to see all the local schools, and find out what they have to offer. All the students at each school were really well behaved and helpful. The schools had a good range of activities that were fun to participate in. I look forward to hopefully attending one of these high schools.  I really enjoyed seeing all these different schools, and experiencing what it would be like to attend them. Indy Stewart
