Ngā Mea Māori Elective

Salote Rouvi —

The students above enjoy their first session of Ngā Mea Māori Elective.

Tēnā koutou katoa!

With electives starting a new group of students spent time getting to know each other through the first activity for Ngā Mea Māori.

Task one was to decorate a biscuit using their school houses and their Māori symbols as inspiration.

While participating in this practical activity students were encouraged to chat with each other, ask questions of each other, bonding together as a group while having some fun.

The journey in which Ngā Mea Māori will take this year is a performance of Tī rakau to the well-known waiata 'E Papa'. The students will learn and create actions using Tī rakau. They will bring their ideas to a performance level and will perform and teach their routine to a small group of manuhiri from a local primary school.

We look forward to the end result.

Kia Ora.
