Tahuna Rock Band Wins BandQuest Regionals

Anthony Breese —

7YearS, an all year 7 Tahuna Normal School rock band performed at their best!

On the night of Friday the 25th August, 7YearS performed at the regional finals of the Rockshop BandQuest at Bathgate Park School. The band consist of Emma, Ella and Archer on vocals, Hazel and Bethan on Keys, Oliver and Aimee on guitar, Jack on bass and Noah and Leo on percussion and drums.

The band performed two songs, Riptide by Vance Joy and Don't Stop Believing by Journey. Emma mesmerised the audience and judges with her retro smooth voice and took out the best female vocalist award.  This was another great achievement, as there were some stunning singers. The band performed with a great energy, performing together as a tight group and connecting with their audience.

As a result, the Tahuna Rock Band took out the top prize, they won the regional finals. This is against 8 other really talented groups from around Otago. The prize was $400 credit at the Dunedin Rockshop for the Tahuna music department.

Next, they go up against the countries best with a live video and recording, to be judged after the 15th of September. This was completed on Friday morning in the music room and is being prepared for entry. If successful, the band can win up to $3000 for the Tahuna music department.

Nice work 7YearS!
