Otago Championship Cross Country 2017

Kelsey Brocklebank —

On a wintry Friday, 19 Tahuna students braved the conditions to compete against schools from every corner of Otago.

The training runs certainly paid off for our students. A massive congratulations to Joe Parkinson and Noah McDowall who came 1st and 2nd respectively in the Year 7 Boys race. The gap between them and the 3rd place runner was rather large as well! Our Year 7 Boys did extremely well, with all 4 of our representatives making it back within the top 30 (out of 79 runners).

The following students made the top 20 in Otago in their age group.

Year 7 Boys: 1st Joe Parkinson. 2nd Noah McDowall. 16th James Gorman.

Year 7 Girls: 16th Genevieve Russell. 20th Neve Darlington.

Year 8 Boys: 18th Jasper Rainey. 19th Oscar Cameron.

A huge thank you to Mr Watts for taking the students on training runs.

Looking forward to next year!
