Year 7's Term 4

Karen Parker —

A busy term ahead for the year 7's.

It is hard to believe that we are already into term 4.  The year 7's started the term off with the DCC biking programme. It was a great opportunity to practice our biking skills road sense and prepare for the summer months out on our bikes.

Our main topic for this term is 'Being Kiwi' this involves the students looking at icons, culture, history and foods.  The classes are busy making tourism videos to showcase their learning. We look forward to seeing these later in the term. We finish this unit with our annual Marae week in week 7.  If you have any wool, plastic shopping bags or expertise in poi, haka, harakeke please let your child's classroom teacher know.

Last week Room 15 were fortunate enough to go to Dunedin Ice Stadium to watch Levi Christos play in the International Peewee U14 Ice Hockey Tournament. It was a nail biting game with time being stopped with 1:55 minutes to go so teams could strategise. Although the 'Thunder' team lost agains the 'Melbourne Ironside' the team went on to finish the tournament with the gold medal.

The year 7's have South Zones, Deca day, Marae week, end of year concert and swim at Moana Pool left to look forward to.
