Nau mai, Haere mai Year 8's

Rob Wells —

A great start to 2020 for our final year students!

Tēnā koutou, katoa,

Welcome back!

2020 is going to be another fun packed and engaging year for our 10 Year 8 classes.

Currently Room’s 7 and 12 are attending camp at Waiora Scout Camp and are having an absolute blast. It is no small feat organising and implementing camps for 10 classes with activities such as tramping, sailing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and target shooting just to name a few. A massive thanks to parents and teaching staff who are supporting us with this. Without you it would not be possible. We are creating memories for a lifetime!

Our Year 8 students are already setting a great example exemplifying their role as the Tuakana of the school. They are showing this by upholding our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Creativity and Success. Another key feature is the pride that they take in showing around our new Year 7 students and supporting them with their transition to intermediate school.

To our Year 8 students, keep up the awesome job so far. Make the most of every opportunity you can. Be it pushing yourself to get that fitness badge, joining a new group such as Taiopeka or one of our many extra curricular activities like ‘Lit Quiz’ or simply getting involved in one of the 80 plus sports teams we have at Tahuna! As you can see there is literally something for everyone. Don’t let your final year at Tahuna pass you by. As Mr Hunter has said ‘If it is to be it is up to me’.

If you have any questions regarding the Year 8 programme and how your student can be part of this amazing journey please contact your classroom teacher or myself.
