An Iron man in the making.

Terry Hokianga —

Cole Gibbons is a man on a mission. 3 weeks ago he won the Port Chalmers Year 7 triathlon individual event and last week at the Dunedin Triathlon Champs he added another first and did so in an impressive manner.

Cole left his competition behind him by some margin and we are extremely proud of his efforts. Bailey Pearce who got the stitch quite early in the Tri worked really hard to make up ground and came in 6th , so well done Bailey for not giving up. In the Year 8 Boys team event Judd Stewart, Michael Flanagan and Alex Livingston kept the field honest but could not over haul the two teams in front of them. A third is no mean feat. Emma Herbert and Mereana Martin showed grit and determination to make the top six It was an amazing experience really and I think our competitors and certainly parents enjoyed the whole experience. Huge thanks to Tahuna for demonstrating how well they acted as competitors and supporters. Thanks heaps to the many mums and dads who took time off their jobs to come and egg on the Tahuna kids.

Cole, Judd, Michael, Alex and Emma Herbert will now represent Tahuna at the Otago Champs late March in Cromwell, Emma gaining a position on the team for being in the top 6 of the Individual Year 7 Girls event. Come to think of it Mereana Martin might be close to qualifying as well.
