Candidate Statement August 2022

Kia Ora,

I am putting myself forward for the Tahuna Normal Intermediate Board of Trustees as I want to take an active role in ensuring the success of the pupils and the school.

I am passionate about the Mental Health and Well-Being of our tamariki, and believe that the school board plays a lead role in promoting awareness and programmes within the school and the wider community.

I also believe that educating our children on how to keep themselves safe on the internet and how to deal with cyber bullying is an important focus for the Intermediate age group.

To contribute to the school I bring to the table experience in the areas of Technology, Project Management and Governance.

I have:

· Worked in Information Technology for over 20 years in a wide range of roles

· Been involved in large projects and have set up and been a member of project governance groups

· Worked as a project manager on significant projects

· Experience on governance groups

o I am the chair of the Dunedin Karate & Kobudo Association

o I am currently a member of the National Policy council for Karate New Zealand

· Trained as a Good Yarn facilitator (Understanding mental health and wellness and identifying those that might need help)

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope I will be able to help Tahuna Normal Intermediate navigate the next few years as part of the Board.
