Term 4 Table Tennis

Grayson Clark —

Every Thursday chosen students from different schools around Dunedin gathered at Kaikorai Valley College to compete in the Dunedin Schools Table Tennis Competition. Approximately 60 students arrived at Kaikorai Valley and battled each other in exciting games of table tennis.

From beginners to experts, there was a huge variety of different skill levels, which resulted in a three division compettion. The year 8 representatives for Tahuna were: Matt Clarkson & Louis Wilson (div 1), Grayson Clark & Joshua Gorman (div 2). The Year 7 team consisted of Daniel Torr & Devon Keen (Div 2). Tahuna's Year 8 div 2 team were nervous at first but got into the competition and enjoyed themselves thoroughly placing second after an epic match for the number one title. Tahuna's Year 8 div 1 placed second last but both played consistently and did not give up throughout the entire competition. Finally the Year 7 div 2 placed a very close third. Smiles on faces as they stood at the bottom of the podium receiving their award. Well done Tahuna! Personal comment from a Tahuna participant - “It was great coming here every week and playing against different students, even if you didn’t win it was a great experience getting to go against different people from around Dunedin”. Overall the tournament was a fantastic experience for all. Unfortunately we missed out on the top spots. Acknowledgement to those teachers who organised the transport and got us to our games on time.
