The Camp Chronicles - Mud, Sweat and Tears Challenge

By Blake and Owen

When Room 8 went on Camp to Berwick in week 1, term 4 we did many activities. We are going to tell you about the mud, sweat and tears challenge we did on the 2nd day where we were in teams of 4 or 5 and carried a log, around a course that challenged us not as a person but as a team. We had to walk through mud and crawl through a cargo net and also wade across a wide river, this was the course we were tasked with completing. While working with our teams we had to share and even the weight between all members and do the same amount of work to complete the course. This activity was fun even though there wasn’t as much mud that we had to walk/crawl through. The river wasn’t as full as before so we didn’t get that wet as we should have. How we worked with our team as we put the smaller people in the middle and the taller people on the edge of the log, which made it easier to maneuver and go faster. Finally, we finished and put the log down allowing us to have a rest before transitioning to the next activity. The challenge took a lot of energy out of our group but we learned to work together
