Mandarin  Language Assistants enjoying their time at Tahuna and in the Otakou cluster schools.

Karen Jamieson —

Our three wonderful Mandarin Language Assistants have settled into life in Dunedin and are now well involved in teaching in the Otakou cluster. Here, they tell us a little more about it.

It has been a great experience to be a Mandarin teacher so far! I’ve been really lucky to be with lovely students and friendly teachers. Language is not only a tool, but also a bridge between two different cultures. I hope everyone in our class can enjoy their journey to learn about the splendid Chinese culture! Ren Laoshi

Hi, this is Xinyu Liu, one of the MLAs for the Otakou cluster.  I am so lucky to work at such a wonderful school. Teachers are always supportive and students are enthusiastic about Mandarin! I really enjoy every minute being here! By the way, the morning tea is awesome, especially on someone’s birthday! Liu Laoshi

I’ve really enjoyed the last two months in Dunedin, not only the extraordinary scenery, but also teaching Mandarin here. All the students are amazing, they make teaching a wonderful thing! I will keep trying to do better, to help you all with Mandarin, and to share our culture. Peng Laoshi
