Year 7 Food Technology

Our Year 7 students have been extremely enthusiastic about getting into, and testing out the Food Tech room this term.

To begin with, students are required to sit a Food Technology Licence  to show they understand the safety and hygiene requirements. We then cover stove safety when we prepare our pancakes. Then onto our first design task...home made pizzas using a yeast dough. Some impressive concept sketches and the real product was just as successful! 'Healthy Heroes' is a unit that focuses on nutrition, so we bring some numeracy into play by analysing the sugar content in a variety of drinks. Students make their own crackers, fruit based ice blocks and then design a rice based snack.
