All Blacks @ Tahuna

Salote Rouvi —

Keiran Read, Ben Smith and Ben Franks are put through their paces by Abby Clayton and Matt Clarkson before heading to the Rugby World Cup.

Excitement was rife at Tahuna once we knew that 3 All Blacks would be joining us for a visit before traveling overseas to defend the Rugby World Cup title.

Staff volunteered for all sorts of things to become involved in the visit. And students who were selected to a 'Leadership session'  following the assembly were honored.

On arrival the school presented the All Blacks with a heartfelt Haka. Kiringaua Cassidy translated it's meaning beautifully, and Te Taiopeka representatives welcomed them with a Waiata Ringa-Ringa (Action Song).

At question time the All Blacks were faced with gruelling questions that really had them thinking. The conclusion of the visit was spent with 60 selected students who broke into groups with one All Black and a few Otago Rugby representatives to discuss Leadership.

It truly was a wonderful experience that will stay with us for a long time.

Go the AB's!
