Te Taiopeka 2017

Salote Rouvi —

Te Taiopeka put on an amazing performance at the 2017 Otago Polyfest.

On the evening of Wednesday 13th September, Te Taiopeka dawned the stage at the annual Otago Polyfest.

Our group consisted of 116 students who showed commitment throughout the year by enthusiastically attending practices. All of their hard work paid off as they were absolutely stunning.

Our song choices came from the students themselves. This made it much more meaningful to them to perform. We also used NZ Sign Language in our choreography to pay tribute to a small number of our members who use this to communicate.

The group did a wonderful job, represented themselves well and Tahuna are very proud!

Our next performance is on the 25th of September at a Nationwide Tennis Tournament. Details will be out soon.

A huge thank you to the many people who helped Te Taiopeka get to where we are today. From costumes, playing the guitar, sharpening up our actions, and stepping in when Mrs Rouvi lost her voice.

Special thanks must go out to Komene and Tumai Cassidy, Chase and DiAngelo and two other Kings High School students for helping with our school haka. We really appreciate your expertise.

We look forward to our continued work in Term 4 in preparation for the end of year concert. We welcome new group members, so please come along if you want to be part of something special.
