Puberty Evening

Karen Parker —

Tuesday 11th of June at 7:00pm

This term all Year 7 classes will be studying changes at puberty through the “Positive Puberty” unit. This unit will be taught in classes during Weeks 7, 8, 9 and 10 covering the following learning outcomes:

  • Recognise that the rate of growth varies considerably and discuss their growth rates.

  • Discuss some of the physical and emotional changes associated with puberty and recognise that the changes they see in themselves are to be expected and are normal.

  • Be able to relate the external changes they are aware of to the internal changes that are also taking place during puberty. They will be able to feel more confident in using conventional terms to describe different parts of the body.

  • Talk about the cyclical nature of monthly periods in girls and discuss how to cope with this.

  • Talk about erections and wet dreams in boys and discuss how to cope with these.

  • Describe appropriate daily routines they can use when caring for their body during puberty.

If you would like to come along to this evening please RSVP to your child's teacher.

Thanks
