Matariki Celebration Night
By Ada Silva
On Wednesday the 28th of June Tahuna hosted a Matariki Night where students were invited to come along and enjoy many fun activities like art, face painting and Māori games.
Addison, Sophia and Aleiyah were chosen to be the experts for an activity called star weaving. With star weaving you can do many different patterns that will come out a different shape but the one people usually do is very simple. You just tuck the string through one hole, pull it out the next then count four holes along and do in that hole. They're fun and easy for all levels.
Another key event was the Taiopeka performance where they did some awesome waiata and ended with the school haka. The Taiopeka group performed with amazing facials, energy and the haka was full of Mana. Overall Taiopeka had a great performance and it was a spectacular evening for Tahuna.
