The Big Debate

Jess Lang —

In each months Extra Magazine, there is a Big Debate. This month was focused on, Should Western Countries send troops into Ukraine? Here are some of R13's thoughts...

I think that Ukraine should get more people to come in because Ukraine probably won't be able to stop Russia and it's better with support. If Russia does take over Ukraine I think Russia will try to attack more countries to rule because Putin seems to want everything. Please send help to Ukraine and then hopefully they might win the war. If they lose the war, it would be horrible because they definitely didn't want to fight Russia and that's not fair so they are suffering for nothing but death.

I think that the West should not send troops because if they send the troops Russia would start a bigger war and we do not want that. Then it would start an even bigger war like the World Wars therefore starting World War 3. Then we would all be in danger and it would make everything in the world would go up in price! Then most people would not be able to pay the cost of living so there would be a lot of homeless people. This was why I think that Nato should not help Ukraine in the war.

No, In my opinion they should still keep sending weapons and supplies but keep the troops for later in the war. If Russia interfered with a Nato country but this would mean more lives would be lost but if Russia starts to use more chemical weapons and it gets so hectic, maybe thats time to start. Russia could get Belarus to help them or Ukraine might finally sign to join Nato which would trigger something. This is why I said I no.

Should Nato send troops to Ukraine?

In my opinion,  I think we don't have to bring more troops in because Ukraine is winning against Russia and it would be be a multinational conflict involving lots of countries and more lives will be lost. If with cut all sources like fuel and more from Russia it will resolve in Putin surrendering. If not their country won't make enough money and it would probably result in the people of Russia turning on Putin losing ending this war, Then Ukraine will have there country back with no war.

The Big Debate

The current situation in Ukraine, although not the greatest, it's getting a lot better. If NATO sends troops into Ukraine it could cause another world war type situation and I don't think that would help with the current world state. Another reason why they shouldnt is because Russia' economy is falling and they probably can't handle something like that happening. Although war is one of the worst things that could happen, we don't want another world war scale problem with germany getting involved.

Big Debate

I think they should not send in the troops because Ukraine is already winning the war and they don't need more troops. In the current situation Ukraine has lots of help from America and the UK and more, meaning they already have lots of troops. If they send in more troops, it will become a multinational war with lots of other countries involved and it will be the next world war, meaning lots of lives lost for no cause. Also with cost penalties against Russia it will make the cost for war rise exponentially and he might abandon his plans.

Should we send troops to Ukraine?

I do not believe the West should send troops into the Ukraine.

What is happening over there is awful and I wish there was a way to stop it but sending in soldiers may spark more bloodshed and possibly even World War Three. Which would kill and injure many, many, more.

So in my opinion, the best way to help Ukraine is to continue with what we are doing, things like taking out sanctions against Russia, taking in refugees, and providing food and water.
