Our first week at Tahuna

Olivia Bates —

The first week of Tahuna for all of Room 5 has been amazing. Room 5 first learnt everything about the school. Then the whole school went to a special start of year assembly and learnt all the teachers names and what they do around the school.

The next day Room 5 all named our stationery and went to the tech orientation where there were four different classes. Art, Food tech, Hard materials and E-Tech. All the teachers were very nice and answered all the questions that we asked them. Every morning Room 5 has a daily notices book where we write all the notices that involve us so we don’t forget to turn up to meetings. There are plenty of sports and meetings to go with them.

On Thursday Room 5 made a class treaty with values like, everyone belongs, and everyone has the right to feel safe, then room five played war with Room 18. Finally, on the last day of week one the whole school did a fire drill. We had to get out to the green court as quickly as possible.  Our student teacher Miss Kimpton and teacher Miss Bates are so kind and creative. Room 5 is loving school as Year 7s so far.

On the first day at Tahuna I was nervous but I was excited to make new friends. Tahuna is a fun environment and made me feel very welcome. I like playing capture the flag and getting to know my class and other classes. I am excited to do Tech and learn how to make a birdhouse or a jewellery box and how to cook properly. At Tahuna there is a lot of space unlike primary school. I like playing with my friends on the field and at the bars at lunch.
