Tahuna Students Make a Big Impact on ANZAC Day
Yvonne Toa - April 29, 2021
At 9am, Ariana McGinty and Renee Geddes joined us for the posy laying service at Andy Bay. Colonel Kate Lee, who was the keynote speaker at the Dawn Service, also spoke with our group, having recognised the school emblem and being an ex Tahuna student herself. It was a real honour to chat with her as she has achieved so much and been all over the world in her service with the military.
Ariana confidently recited the Ode of Remembrance, in both Te Reo and English during the ceremony. After the Tahuna wreath was laid, there was also time for a brief chat with the mayor, Aaron Hawkins.
This was indeed a very special day for all these students who represented themselves, their families and school so proudly on this day. Tradition, reflection and respect was in evidence as the students genuinely got behind the spirit of ANZAC.
