Multisport Success

Roddy Scoles —

Seven teams of 3 and one lone individual competitor assembled at Port Chalmers swimming pool at 5 pm to listen to the pre race brief and to receive team and individual competitor numbers

At 6pm the competition was started with the 7–8year olds quickly followed by our one and only entry in the individual comp, Madison Wills. Our 7 teams then set off with the bikers cycling 2 km handing over the baton to the runners who had to run 1 km. The swimmers completed the triathlon and Tahuna was successful.

Madi Wills cleaned up the 8–10 year old girls individual event while Ryan Watterson, Josh McGregor and Maxwell Fleury-Auld winning the 11–14 Boys leg. Devon, Jabari and George Procter came second and the 5 other teams ( all Year 7s) were all in the top 11 of 17 teams.

On receiving his 2nd place medal George Procter thanked the organisers with a stirring speech clinching it by saying...no matter first or last I know that we enjoyed this occasion because of the smiles. Parents were fantastic and our students were brilliant.

Cameron Jefferies in Year8 also achieved a great result placing 2nd in the Taieri Plains Triathlon 11-14 age group last Friday evening.
