Year 7's

Welcome back to Term Two.

The Year 7's have come back fresh and ready to embrace the term. It has been a busy start to the term with some of our Year 7's attending the ANZAC services with the school. There were some students who played basketball at the Nuggets' game last week. It is great to see the Year 7's out representing the school at these community events. Well done.

Winter sports are starting over the next couple of weeks and we have also had a variety of winter sports trials over the past couple of weeks. Sports draws are displayed around the school as soon as they come in and it is great to see the children taking photos of the draws or recording them in their homework diaries.  Good luck to all our sports stars this term.

Electives started this week and the Year 7's have signed up for a variety of activities. It was great to see so many kids taking on Mr J at badminton this week.

We are working on Project Based Learning this term with our main focus on reducing the waste we produce at Tahuna. The children will be looking at a variety of ways rubbish and pollution impact our local area as well as looking at the tikanga of Te Taiao. This also builds on the great work our water testers do with the ECOOTAGO group. Each class will be looking at a way to reduce our waste and come up with more sustainable solutions.
