VR Experience

Today, R13 was lucky enough to have a visit from the Blake Foundation.

In the space of one hour, we learned more about our marine life and ecosystems than we have in our lives. Not only did some of us get to try virtual reality for the first time, we also saw how humans have affected the sea life and ocean environment, complete with 360° view and sound effects. Room 13 learned all about overfishing and pollution, and how this affects the marine life around Aotearoa, New Zealand. We brainstormed ideas about how to prevent and repair the damage caused by both of these problems. We compared protected areas with unprotected areas and saw sea creatures such as whales, dolphins, snappers, crayfish, and penguins. We can confidently say we came out knowing more than when we came in. A massive thank you to all of the members of the Blake Foundation who showed us what was going on with our oceans and how we can help fix it.
