On Friday we were treated to an awesome performance by Auckland Ukulele trio, the Nukes.

The Ministry of Education requires the Tahuna Normal Intermediate School Board of Trustees to implement an enrolment scheme in accordance with section 11H of the Education Act 1989, to avoid overcrowding at the school. 

With winter around the corner it is timely to remind you to take care when driving in the vicinity of the school as visibility, particularly in the mornings can be very difficult for motorists.

The four houses; Tane Mahuta, Mahuika, Takaroa and Tumatueka battled it out at the Annual Tahuna Swimming Sports, held on the final day of Term 1.

Room 6 Maths class are busy working on Area and Perimeter.

The Canteen provides food through ordering Tuesday-Friday. Most food needs to be ordered as it is supplied to the school through outside providers. Students can order in their classroom in the morning. The Canteen is open for sales at lunchtime Tuesday-Friday with limited items for sale.

Due to camps during Term 1 we decided to play our regular school competition at lunchtime.

Plenty of it already this year. If your child loses something please encourage them to go and have a look for it. If it is named there is an excellent chance that it will find its way back to them.

Tahuna continues to succeed in the Dunedin Primary School Volleyball Competition.

This term our inquiry topic for Year 8's is Chemistry and we have called in Dr Dave from the University to come help teach us about solids, liquids and gases.

It was heart warming to have a small, but dedicated Tahuna representation march in the ANZAC Day Dawn parade and attend the service by the cenotaph, at the Queen's Gardens on ANZAC Day.

This biennial event is being held in the school hall on Tuesday, 16th May, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm.

All classes have started S.U.F.M. this term and a letter was sent out for parents to see what is involved in the programme.  A copy is included below.

Enjoy viewing these photos of Tahuna students being productive, creative, innovative and having fun while achieving. Term One is coming to an end and it has gone by quickly because time flies when you are having fun!

After a big season and steep learning curve the boys dug deep to win the final against Balmacewen A.

And we are off to explore Berwick Forest and a bite to eat at the famous Sinclair Wetlands Cafe. 

MUFTI DAY:  Last Friday, the School Council organised a Mufti Day, with a special focus on supporting the Highlanders.  Seen here are some of the Year 7 & 8 entrants and eventual winners.  Congratulations to Zeik Norling from Rm 4 and Jack Soal from Rm 19 .
