Tahuna Rockband Velvet Concord wins Bandquest Otago

Congratulations to Tahuna's rock band Velvet Concord on winning 1st Prize at the Bandquest Regionals on Saturday night!

The concert was held at the Taieri College performing arts centre and featured a great lineup of 15 bands from Intermediate and Primary schools across Dunedin. After last year's lack of live music it was just wonderful seeing students play and sing for an appreciative and encouraging audience again. Song choices ranged widely and there was lots of enthusiasm and talent on guitars, bass, drums, keys, ukuleles and voice.
Rockshop Bandquest pulls out all the stops for these young musicians, with a professional sound system, a full lighting rig, stage hands, a smoke machine and a great MC who makes setting up easy for the bands and who gets the audience involved.

Tahuna's Velvet Concord are: Mosey Tuigamala, Francisca Millan, Hazel Evans, Max Thomlinson, Brodie Jones, Charley Sumner, Neve Russell and Mason Virtue. Sadly Mason wasn't able to be at the gig due to a chest infection. They played "House of Gold" by 21 Pilots, and "Bugbear" by Chloe Moriondo and delivered both songs with great musicality and showmanship. Can I also say that they also were amazing audience-members, clapped along with other performances, won the headbanging competition (Charley) and were first to the mosh-pit.

Velvet Concord wins $400 credit at the Rockshop for Tahuna School and gets to put their recorded performance into the Nationals!
