Year 7's

Welcome to all the Year 7 whanau and families.

The Year 7's have settled well into the busy life of Tahuna and seem to be embracing everything on offer. It is great to see the students signing up for futsal, EPRO8, volleyball, waterpolo, touch, Taiopeka, Stars on Stage, Otago Swimming Champs.

The Year 7's have had their first technology and music classes over the past couple of weeks. There have been some very cute designs coming out of the E-tech room using the laser cutter. Some students are excellent food tasters and are learning how to describe foods. During their music lesson the students learnt about how to sign up for itinerant music teachers and the music teachers came to school to perform a mini concert on Friday. There was a lot of modern and popular music to inspire the children.

All children worked through a first aid course to get them ready for school camp. The students enjoyed bandaging each other and dramatising the injuries and back stories of said injuries. They also practiced survival scenarios and most managed to keep 'Joe' alive.

Most classes have been busy getting to know each other as they try some team building activities in preparation for school camp. How many people can you fit on 1/4 of a sheet of newspaper? Rooms 4&5 are heading out to Tirohanga this week. We wish them an enjoyable time.
