EPRO 8 Winners

Congratulations to the EPRO4 team, who won the Otago Grand Final last night at DNI.

The 2022 EPRO8 competition took place at DNI over the past two evenings. On Tuesday night four Tahuna Teams worked through the challenge cards to engineer, alarm clocks and vending machines. The points changes rapidly throughout the night.

The Mechanical Monkies won the semi final and the fourth spot came to a tie break decision. Our EPRO4 team managed to complete the tie break activity faster to secure their spot in the Grand Final.

Well done to our other two teams who managed to hold the leader board during the competition. There was some excellent building work from the Brick Brains who managed to rig up their vending machine to deliver bags of treats. Well done to the Maddies who made excellent engineering choices about their builds and whom held the top spot occasionally throughout the evening.

On Wednesday night the Mechanical Monkies and the EPRO4 competed in the Otago Grand Final. This was exceptionally tight competition with both Tahuna Teams in first and second position for most of the night.

The team challenges were, crowd spacing, sound system, drum machine and a lighting challenge. Some of these challenges focused on getting the mathematics behind their engineering accurate.

The leader board was constantly changing throughout the night. With two minutes forty five seconds left to go the Mechanical Monkies were ahead on the leader board. By 1 minute 12 seconds to go the EPRO4 team were the top of the leader board. The last minute of building was the very intense as Abbortsford school completed another challenge.

The points were exceptionally close but EPRO4 took out the Otago Grand Final with 440 points and Mechanical Monkies 430 points.  Well done to all the teams who competed over the past two days. We are really proud of your team work and commitment to engineering.

Thank you to all the parent spectators for their support throughout the competition.
