Year 7 News

Final PBL for the Year.

Over the past few weeks the Year 7's have been working on phase two of their PBL. They have focused on cardboard construction joiners, fast fail, basic mechanisms and scale factors. They will combine all this knowledge together to make their very own arcade game to play at our Year 7 Fun Day in December. Watch this space to see all the exciting games they produce.

We have just completed the Matauranga Māori Week, with the final competitions being held this week. Congratulations to Room 20 who took out the Year 7 Ki O Rahi competition. Congratulations to Room 6 who won the Haka competition.

Huge thank you to Matua Manuel and Mrs Carey for providing such as great opportunity for the Year 7's and the whole school.

Year 8 News

It has been an awesome couple of weeks within our school! Year 8s have had their high school orientation day and represented us with pride at the Otago Athletics Championships. We have also had two wonderful weeks celebrating Mātauranga Māori week, culminating in our Ki O Rahi and Haka competitions.

Congratulations to Room 13 for taking out the 2024 Ki O Rahi competition. It was a hard-fought battle in the final against Room 12.

Huge congratulations also, to Room 11 for taking out the Haka competition. Matua Manuel has been super impressed with this year's performances.

Over the next few weeks, our Year 8s will be finalising their trading day stalls, which will be happening on Wednesday the 4th of December. I have been impressed already with the business ideas that our students have been developing.

Week 8 is also packed with activities! Year 8s will be heading to Moana pool and Bowl Line for their end-of-year outing.

Finally, we will have our last social of the year, the Year 8 Leavers' Social, on Thursday 12th of December from 7-9pm for our Year 8s as we farewell them.

Still lots to happen in the final weeks of term 4!

Ngā mihi

Rob Wells
