Over four Fridays this term Tahuna students are taking part in a PADI Intro to Scuba Course at Dive Otago. Our instructors, Emma and Thea  have been incredibly encouraging  and all students have had a lot of fun and are itching for more tuition in the future. 

Term 2 has started well with our students settling quickly in to the classroom programmes, as well as winter sports beginning and electives underway on Fridays. 

This week Louis and Alex went to the Museum to meet the Governor General. They chatted about the work we do at Tomahawk Lagoon and also the activity they were doing which was classifying macro invetebrates (water bugs).

With winter around the corner it is timely to remind you to take care when driving in the vicinity of the school as visibility, particularly in the mornings can be very difficult for motorists.

Year 8 classes are swimming in Term 2.

The first grading games of the season began on Thursday and it was fantastic to see our Tahuna teams well presented and enthusiastic!

Tahuna has 8 teams entered into this years Kiwihoops Allstars competition. 

These students have been learning all about dance this week. Rhythm, beat and understanding music have been a big focus, as well as Sasa dancing, Stomp and using sport equipment to make up dances.

Over the past two weeks our Room 17 maths class has been exploring addition and subtraction concepts through practical perimeter measuring tasks.

Marissa Oliver and Talia Ogier have been selected to represent Otago at the National Badminton Age Group Competitions in Palmerston North in July.

This Friday the long-awaited 2016 Intermediate hockey season begins for our three hockey squads.

In order to gain an understanding of future teaching within Science at Tahuna, Year Seven students are participating in an online test from NZCER. Data that is gathered from this test will be used to improve what is being taught to all of our students.
