Our Delicious Hangi

Marae Week wrapped up on Rāmere with our Year 7 Hangi.

The day started earlier than usual for a number of teachers as they met at school just after 3am to prepare our hangi.

By midday the food was cooked and the hangi was ready to be lifted. Our staff and year 8 tuakana digged up the food while the year 7's looked on. After a karakia we all enjoyed our kai together.

I loved seeing so many students experience this for the first time and share this with each other. All of the food was gone in record time, fuelling us up for the haka competition to follow.
