On October 15th 18 students 2 teachers and 1 awesome parent headed to China for a 2 week educational tour. To promote cultural understanding and get to visit our sister schools in Zhengzhou and Nanjing.

Term 4 has begun very well with everyone settling back into school routines after the holiday break and it is hard to believe that we are into Week four already.

Well done to everyone involved for pushing through a drizzly, cold Friday to complete our annual Athletics Day.

All students were fantastic and a real credit to their families. Big thank you to Miss Pearce, Mr Lousley, Mr Scoles and Mr Jenkinson for their help in making it such a a great way to finish term three. Next years booking has been made and it looks pretty exciting, with a change of venues inside the predator fenced area at Mamaku Point. It is the most densely populated area for brown kiwi in the world and has five private beaches!

What a fantastic year the Year 7's have had so far but so much more to come.

For 2019 there will be an opportunity for families to donate items of the Tahuna Uniform.

On Friday, Allen Anderson, manager of the South Dunedin Westpac branch, presented a very deserving Ted Menzies with the 2019 Sir Peter Blake Leadership medal.

Another one of the many sporting opportunities here at Tahuna and the girls loved their first game for the season!

Room 9 delved deep into Chinese culture this week by creating their own Blossom Trees that signify the end of Winter and the start of Spring.

Jade Choun, from Room 7, has been selected to contribute artwork to a prestigious journal.

In Week 3 of Term 4, ten Year 8 students were lucky enough to travel out to the Taieri Plains to take part in a riparian planting project. This was Phase 2 of a long-term project which was started by a group of Year 8 students in 2018.

Unfortunately the Lion Foundation is out of action this year at this time. The search to find another venue big enough to hold the school and parents (within our budget!) has proved unsuccessful. At this stage we may have a Year 7 prize giving earlier with a seperate Year 8 prize giving. That way we can still invite parents to participate and be there to see their child receiving awards.

Congratulations to Lucy Morrison, Tate Cameron and Jeremiah Tuhega-Vaitupu for being selected by Basketball NZ to attend the BBNZ U14 Talent ID Camps next year.
