Year 8

Super start to the term within the Year 8 team. Currently, the team are working on a variety of projects.

Cycle safety has started with each class receiving 3 lessons.

Novel studies are underway with each student reading their novel. Students are busy completing interactive tasks based around the author and characters within their book.

Picture books are being written and created. Students have been challenged to come up with a story and message for their books for a chosen audience. This has drawn on skills learned and developed from our pantomimes last term.

Financial Literacy units are in progress. Students are learning about how money works, getting a job, paying rent and having to budget their money each week. We will be using the Banqer online tool to help deliver this.

Financial Literacy will also lead into our Trading day where students will have to develop a product, service or activity that they want to sell for Tahuna dollars. This is a fantastic day that always amazes me with all the new and innovative ideas that our students come up with.

Athletics and training for South Zones are under way. Souths Zones day will be held on Wednesday the 8th of November.

Room 13 managed to get in a great day of rock climbing and Room 10 are hoping to make have theirs happen after two postponements.

Summer sports are underway with students involved in their last primary school sport. Volleyball, Futsal and Touch Rugby have all started.

Room 10 even managed to complete a pantomime road show with Little Red Meg.

Friday the 17th of November is the Year 8 orientation day for most high schools. You should have received an email from your chosen high school about what is happening. If not please make contact with your respective high school.Tahuna will be having their teacher only day on this day.

So much happening and still lots more come for the last term for our Year 8 students!!!
