Cycle Safety
As much as we love to see children cycling to school we have seen some scary near misses lately around our streets :(
Did you know... It is illegal to ride your bike along the footpath in New Zealand unless you are a small child with a wheel of 30cm diameter? We are seeing a number of our older students riding down the footpath and have had some near misses reported to us by drivers. Students biking along footpaths need to be very cautious about driveways and cars pulling out in front of them. This is also an issue on the cycleway directly outside the school where cars are trying to pull in and out of the school driveway. We all need to be careful folks, walking, driving or biking. Please discuss and supervise your children's riding to and from school, know their route, the dangers they need to look out for, where to cross safely, and remember if its not safe to bike... walk
