Our 2023/24 changeover of Tahunanui School staff is a particularly busy one. While we will be farewelling and welcoming staff in a more formal way at our end of year and start of year events, here is an overview of some of our changes.

Farewells:

Ferne Walton - has won a full-time Librarian role at Clifton Terrace School. Congratulations Ferne and thank you for the years you have been here for us, both as a parent helper and then as a key support staff member.

Cat Barker - has secured a new teaching position at Saint Pauls School in Richmond. Well done on your first year of teaching at Tahunanui School Cat and best wishes for this exciting next stage of your career.

Sophie Fisher (nee Gibson) - is enjoying her role as Mum to Theodore and has resigned her full time teaching position. Congratulations Sophie, we hope to see you back in part time roles in the future.

Becs Stephen - joined us in a job-sharing capacity this year and has enjoyed her time with Whaea Jan and class Haku. Becs is a Mum too so she's taking a break from teaching for awhile and may look at relieving in our school in the future.

Stu May - went to Australia at the end of last year for a break and is loving it so much he is staying. He has resigned his position. Thank you for your years of service in the junior school at Tahunanui Stu and all the best for everything in the great Oz.

Tegan Bartlett - is also going to Australia for new adventures with her fiance Jack. Our loss is very much Australia's gain and we know you'll be snapped up wherever you go. We will miss you Tegan so please remember us if you ever come back to Nelson in the future.

Helga Reissmann - was our saviour in terms 3 and 4 this year when we needed to open a start-up class for our growing school roll. Thank you for your energy and positivity Helga and best wishes for whatever the new year brings.

Daniel Hooper - also came to us as a start-up junior class teacher and continued in 2023 as a Chamberlain Team member. Thank you for taking on both these roles as a beginning teacher Daniel. We hope all you have learned in that time will serve you well in your next position.

Helen Ward - came to us from Enner Glynn School this term when we needed her expertise on the Support Staff Team. Unfortunately we may not have a position available to keep Helen next year. Either way, thank you and fingers crossed/good luck.

Sylvia Kumbischinski  - is our current German intern. She still has a few adventures in Nelson and New Zealand before returning to Germany and continuing her studies. Best wishes for wherever your travels take you Sylvia and thank you for a lovely term at Tahunanui School.
