Petipeti worked in small groups and learnt a new strategy called the ‘Question Formulation Technique’. We were developing questions for the inquiry unit on musical instruments. Each group had a photo and they had to come up with as many questions as they could about the photo. They checked their questions and made sure they were not statements. After that they identified the questions that were open and closed. They realized that open questions are much better to inquire into. They finally identified their best question to provide a road map for their inquiry.
