My name is Tracy Marfell. I have been involved with Tahunanui school for 21 years when my daughter started as a new entrant. I have only become involved with the BOT in the past few years since my younger children have come through. I initially thought being a Board member would take up too much time and I wouldn't bring any value to the team so had never put my hand up, This however is not the case. Being a Board member allows me to see the school from a different angle and not just as a parent but it also allows me to voice my opinion as a parent to be an advocate for all.

I have really appreciated being on the board. I've learned a lot about how the school works and the decisions that Barbara, Ian and the board need to make. I have a much better understanding of what is happening across the school rather than just in my child's class.

I'd really encourage others to consider standing for the board. It feels really good to be able to support the school. There is quite a bit of reading to do before board meetings but the school is really good about finding a meeting time that works for everyone. My kindy aged kid has even come to some meetings with me.

Nominations close on Friday 5th August at 12 noon.

Voting papers will be issued by Wednesday 10th August, and Election day is Wednesday 7th September.
