Message from the Principal/Tumuaki
Wow—where has the term gone?
It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final stretch, with just over a week to go! I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support this term. I feel truly grateful to be part of such an incredible community.
2025 Curriculum Focus: Action → Reaction
Along with our hour a day of Reading, Writing and Maths our 2025 Curriculum Focus is Action → Reaction. This year, we embrace the The Ripple Effect—the idea that small actions can create meaningful change. Through hononga (connection), tipu (growth), manaaki (respect), and māia (courage), we cultivate ripples that strengthen our school and inspire a positive impact in our community.
As always, we remain committed to our vision:
"Making a difference to ourselves, others, and the environment."
"Ko au te kōpū o te moana, ka maringi taku wai ki te ao."
"I am the source of the ocean, and my waters flow out to the world."
This whakataukī reflects the idea that each individual—and each action—contributes to something greater. Just like a ripple in the water extends outward, our collective efforts shape the world around us.
Throughout the term, each team has been exploring The Ripple Effect through the Arts. We can’t wait to share the incredible learning experiences from each hub at our upcoming Learning Celebrations on April 9th, 8:30 am – 9:15 am.
Come along and enjoy the students sharing their learning and creativity—plus a free sausage sizzle for breakfast! We hope to see you there.
Community Survey & Communication Update
A huge thank you to everyone who responded to our community survey earlier this term. Your feedback was incredibly valuable, and it was heartwarming to read so many positive comments.
Based on your input, we’re making some exciting changes to how we communicate.
From Term 2, we will be streamlining communication by using HERO as our primary platform. This will provide a more efficient, consistent, and user-friendly way to stay connected. Through HERO, you’ll have access to:
✅ Student Progress & Learning Updates
✅ School Communication (newsletters, emails)
✅ School Interview Bookings
✅ Reporting an Absence
✅ Attendance & Reports
✅ Payments & Fees
✅ School Calendar & Events
✅ Easy access to Kindo (school shop) & Lunch Online (food orders)
✅ School Uniform Provider Link
By consolidating everything into one platform, we aim to make it easier for whānau to stay informed and engaged. More details on how to download and use HERO can be found in this week's newsletter.
Disco Fever!
Excitement is building for our first disco of the year—TOMORROW! 🎶✨
To make it easier for our juniors to head straight to the disco after school, Friday will be a free non-uniform day. The theme is Neon, so if your child wants to dress up, they’re welcome to glow bright for the occasion! 🌟
We can’t wait to see everyone on the dance floor!
School Camp
I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Year 6/7 school camp last week for a day. The children had an incredible time, creating memories that will last for years to come. A huge thank you to our fantastic teachers—Helen Schulte, Sophia Fenwick, Kirsty Pratt, and Kim Widdowson—for making this experience possible. I also want to express my gratitude to our amazing parent helpers—Rose, Liz, Dave, and Eamon—for generously giving your time to join us. And, of course, a big thank you to all the parents who provided transportation. Your support is truly appreciated!
Wishing you all a wonderful end to the term and a well-deserved break. See you at the Learning Celebrations and have an amazing time at the disco!
Ngā mihi nui,
Amanda Clarkson
