Communication to whānau

Tai Tapu School —

School communication to whānau is a really important part of community partnership. Our aim is to provide communication that is streamlined, well organised and timely.

What can you expect?

  • A fortnightly  newsletter emailed to you directly. The newsletter will now contain a list of the next 2 weeks of up coming events to keep you informed.
  • If we change or need to add further information around events these  will be sent out on Monday of each week. this communication will be on   HERO and the School App.
  • Every term you will receive three newsletters from the  Year 1-4 and Year 5-8 teams (beginning, mid and end of term)- these will come to you on both HERO and the School App.
  • From time to time we will need to send your reminders around events - expect these on both HERO and the School App. We will keep these to a minimum.

School communications will be managed mostly through the Senior Leadership Team as we move forward this year.

School Administration will send accounts, PTA communications and health and safety information. These will be sent on HERO and the  School App. We will keep these to a minimum.

Important communication links:

  • The school website https://taitapu.school.nz is a great place to check on general school information, check the school calendar and check the home page banner for emergency communications.
  • HERO - is the schools Learning Management System. HERO is used to communicate key information and Learner Progress and Achievement Reports to whānau.
  • School App - is our main communication app. We use the School App for all communications. There is an up to date school calendar built into the School App. The calendar gets updated weekly.
  • Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TaiTapuSchool/ - the school facebook page is only used to showcase and celebrate school events as they are happening.

Timing of information?

As a school we will do our very best to communicate key information to you in a timely manner. From time to time information comes to us with little warning and this is out of our hands. We will work to minimise this type of disruption to whānau

Suggestions:

  • Bookmark the new school website in your browser for quick access to the school newsletter, school calendar and emergency banner alerts.
  • Download onto your devices/smart phone your preferred communication app - either HERO or the School APP. Then turn on alerts or notifications.
  • You also need to have HERO on a device to receive your childs Goals, Progress and Acheivement Reports.

Please read the attached document:

  • How to access and use HERO and the School App.

As a team we will continue to review our communication practices to ensure that we best meet your needs.
