Tai Tapu School — August 9, 2024
Another busy and rewarding week at Tai Tapu School.
ICAS testing has started and ‘Wearable Arts’ rehearsals are in full swing. On Wednesday we were treated to a wonderful Junior Choir performance.
A HUGE thank you to Helen Murray for your guidance and support for our Tamariki. See the Tai Tapu School Facebook page to listen to one of their items. So good!
NEDs Mindset Mission
Never give up! Encourage others! Do your best! The positive behaviour assembly was lots of fun. Thank you to those who paid it forward by purchasing a yo-yo. The yo-yo is both a mindset tool and a tangible reminder of NED’s message. While learning to yo, children will make mistakes, try again, & improve. Ask for child to show you a few of the tricks.
Yo-yos will still be available for purchase on Monday and Tuesday next week outside Koropepe before school.
Teacher Only Day
A reminder that school will be closed on Monday 19th August for our annual Kāhui Ako Conference at Lincoln High School. This year's theme is Exploring Innovation. The school will be open as normal on Tuesday 20th August.
Mathematics & Statistics at Tai Tapu School
Over the last week, the New Zealand Government has announced their Action Plan to address the low percentage of students achieving ‘at’ or ‘above’ the expected curriculum level for Mathematics & Statistics as they finish primary school.
Government 4-point Action Plan
The new measures the Government are introducing from 2025, are to support the improvement of mathematics learning in primary school. Already, outside of government support, Tai Tapu School has invested in and is committed to ongoing mathematics professional development for our teachers and targeted support for all learners.
The percentage of students at Tai Tapu School achieving ‘at’ or ‘above’ the expected curriculum level for Mathematics & Statistics at the end of 2023 was an outstanding 94%. See school website Tai Tapu School Variance Report, end of 2023
A reminder to whānau to regularly check the school calendar especially as we have a lot of events coming up.
Have a fabulous weekend and see you next week.
Ngā mihi nui,
Helen Schulte
