Kia ora whānau,
As we reach the end of Week 7, the weather is definitely unpredictable at the moment but it is great to see children still arriving to school with big smiles and ready to learn. As the seasons change, so do the exciting initiatives happening at our school.
School-Wide Positive Behaviour System
This term, we have been focusing on developing a School-Wide Positive Behaviour System with a Restorative Approach, aligned with our school values of Manaaki (Respect), Hononga (Connection), Maia (Courage), and Tipu (Growth). Creating a positive school culture starts with a clear and consistent approach to behaviour. Our system, grounded in restorative practices, encourages students to show Manaaki by respecting others, build Hononga through positive relationships, demonstrate Māia by taking responsibility for their actions, and embrace Tipu by learning and growing from their experiences.
In our last assembly, we introduced a playground reward system to recognise students who live out these values daily. Staff now give out Tika Tokens to students who demonstrate Manaaki, Hononga, Maia, or Tipu in the playground. These tokens go into a draw every assembly, where 10 students will win a special pizza lunch with the principal. All tokens also contribute to a larger container—once it’s full, we will celebrate with a school-wide reward, reinforcing the idea that positive behaviour benefits the whole community.
Looking ahead, at the start of Term 2, we will be launching our classroom-based positive reward system, which will continue to promote and strengthen our values. Stay tuned for more details at the beginning of next term! In the meantime, we encourage you to chat with your child/ren about our new playground system and how they can embody our school values every day.
Learning Celebration
We’re excited to invite you to our Learning Celebration on Wednesday, 9th April! From 8:30 am - 9:15am, all learning hubs will be open for families to explore and celebrate the amazing learning that has taken place this term. To make the morning even more special, we’ll be offering a free breakfast sausage sizzle, and Ash will be there with the coffee van for those who’d like to purchase a hot drink. So please add this to your calendars and we look forward to seeing you there and sharing the incredible learning happening in our spaces!

A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers for all the mahi that has gone into organising this experience, and to our wonderful parent volunteers—without your support, camp wouldn’t be possible. Have a fantastic time, everyone! We can’t wait to hear all about your adventures.
Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support in making our school a place where everyone can learn and grow together.
