Enrolment Scheme Description
Effective from 13 September 2016
The guidelines for the development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.
Home Zone
Unless otherwise stated, the Enrolment Scheme Home Zone includes addresses on both sides of boundary roads.
Starting from the Eastern end of Early Valley Road;
West along Early Valley Road to Old Tai Tapu Road
South-West along Old Tai Tapu Road to Osterholts Road
West along Osterholts Road to Tai Tapu Road (SH75)
South along Tai Tapu Road (SH75) to Tancreds Road
West along Tancreds Road to Ellesmere Road
South-West along Ellesmere Road to Hudsons Road
North-West along Collins Road (paper road from Hudsons Road to the river) to Springs Road
South on Springs Road to McDonald Road
East on McDonald Road to English Road
South-East on English Road to Carters Road
West on Carters Road to Wolfes Road
South-West on Wolfes Road to the end of Wolfes Road at Lake Ellesmere
East along the north bank of Lake Ellesmere to the Eastern side of Lake Ellesmere, where Christchurch Akaroa Road is in close proximity (near 2870 Christchurch Akaroa Road)
East along Christchurch Akaroa Road until Prices Valley Road
North-East on Prices Valley Road to the end of Prices Valley Road
North from the end of Prices Valley Road across to the eastern end of Kaituna Valley Road
West from the end of Kaituna Valley Road across to the eastern end of McQueens Valley Road
North west from the end of McQueens Valley Road to the intersection of Gebbies Pass Road and Summit Road (including 554-558 Gebbies Pass Road)
North along the Western side of Summit Road to the intersection with Kennedys Bush Road
West along Kennedys Bush Road to 450 Kennedys Bush Road
From 450 Kennedys Bush Road to the eastern end of Early Valley Road
Proof of residence within the home zone may be required.
Out-of-zone enrolments
Each year the Board will determine if any ‘Out of Home Zone’ Pre-Enrolments and Enrolments will be made available and if so, the number of places that will be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the ‘Home Zone’.
The Board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
Special Programmes
This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a Special programme approved by the Secretary.
Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:
First Priority This priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education.
Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
Fifth Priority will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, Selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions by the Secretary. Under Section 74 (1and 2) on the Education Act 2020. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
In 2024-5, the Board will continue to accept priority 2, 3, 4, and 5 children, and places for priority 6 children will be reviewed on a term-by-term basis.
