More learning about bees, patterns and shapes this week in Piwakawaka.

Fungai Mabonga —

The bee study continued this week as we looked at bee facts. We studied patterns on a honeycomb and the shapes it's made out of. We used rods to form hexagons. We read about the various jobs bees have and the most talked about bees in Piwakawaka were the Guard Bees because they kill wasps!

On Tuesday, Mrs Stewart and class looked at the physiology of bees  and tamariki cut, coloured and made copies of their own bee hives on cardboard to take home next week.

For music and dance, we buzzed around the classroom to the fast frenetic "flight of the bumblebee" song. Piwakawaka suggested we go to the tennis court to do the dance. This was a fun challenging activity as trying to mirror the bee-flying pattern was highly entertaining!

For fitness, we have been looking at ball skills particularly throwing and catching. With swimming around the corner, we will be covering most of our PE activities at the pool.

We welcomed Luandre to Piwakawaka this week. We wish him and his family a successful time in Piwakawaka.

May you have a restful weekend.
