Speeches, shapes and stars.

Fungai Mabonga —

We've been on an exciting journey studying Matariki. This week, we were exploring how humans could travel from Earth to the  stars! We brainstormed modes of transport we could use and decided rockets would be better than planes or helicopters. The magic school bus was a close contender!

In Maths, we continued studying shapes. We used PMP equipment to build a rocket, carefully considering the shapes and materials in the room and assembling them together into a rocket, complete with pool noodles as the flames. We also had a toy plastic rocket that Fergus brought to class, and we launched it. However, it didn't go as planned and became our first experience of a failed launch!

During our Literacy time, we diligently wrote our speeches. Next week, we'll be practicing and refining our delivery during oral language sessions.

With Teachers' Only Day coming up on Monday, I wish Piwakawaka and their whanau a restful and relaxing long weekend.
