Non-Newtonian Fluid! Is it a solid or a liquid?
The school holidays are within sight and a bit of fun is always welcome. In the name of science, let's make some Oobleck.
This week has been very short. Not that anyone was complaining about the long weekend. It's the home stretch now before the term ends. The Kereru class has been working flat out this term. The sheer volume of activities and tasks that have been completed is huge. What is even more noteworthy is the amount of effort these kids have put in. So I decided to let the class have a little fun with a non-Newtonian fluid, a.k.a Oobleck. We will be learning about natural disasters in geography, especially volcanoes and since lava is a non-Newtonian fluid, I thought it would help the learners to better understand the concept. Plus give them a well-deserved chance to get their hands messy. I was proud to see everyone helping to clean up afterwards. Well done, Kereru Kids!
