Kereru - Flying High

Liz Whitehead —

It is hard to believe we are at the end of Week 3 of Term 2. This week there have been lots of different things happening.

On Monday we got to experience a visiting speaker through Duffy Books.  She had a selection of taxidermied animals and was sharing with the tamariki about making choices and that with hard work they can make their dreams come true.

We have had a lot of wet days this week and have done some of our fitness in the hall.  This has been challenging as we learn to adapt to the space.  On Wednesday the Year 6 group had a great time with dodgeball in the hall to continue working on our fitness.  The class really love dodgeball and we are seeing people improving across lots of different skills which are in the game.

We got lots of spelling testing done this week amidst writing and a focus on narrative.  We were working on our NZ event study research and are starting to get some really good facts, figures and images with everything from the Tarawera Eruption, The Christchurch Earthquakes, The Rainbow Warrior bombing and lots of others in between. It is fascinating how many significant events tamariki have come up with to work on.

It is a busy time with our two basketball teams both making the third place play off matches on Tuesday.  All the best.  The Shark's game on Sunday has definitely been the highlight of the week.

Have a fabulous weekend.
