Fungai Mabonga — Nov 16, 2023

Our Literacy focus was on the Big Book "Haere Atu," a key component of our ongoing science unit exploring habitats.

We discussed the roles of Namu and Sandy as pests that can be a source of annoyance for beachgoers. Fortunately, our excursion to Colac Bay was uneventful in terms of encountering sandflies. With the support of Evelyn our drama specialist teacher, we explored the underlying concepts of the book through dramatic arts.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Hunt taught Piwakawaka while I completed assessments. Akonga engaged in a vortex experiment and saw a  tornado in action. During Discovery Time, we intentionally practised the values of inclusivity and respect, while fostering creative thinking and super cool models. It was a pleasure to have Kaye and her Mum, Shirley, join us during Discovery Time.

In summary, the week comprised assessments, dance, drama, and insightful discoveries related to both learning and life.

A reminder that Monday is Teachers Only Day, and we look forward to resuming activities in Piwakawaka on Tuesday.

Wishing you a pleasant weekend ahead.
